FAQ

What do I do to get started?

The best way to contact the practice is to call us at (919) 629-1291. We will schedule a 15-minute consult call to learn more about your struggles and determine whether we fit your needs.

Do you accept insurance?
All our providers accept insurance plans. We accept BCBS, Aetna, and UHC/Optum insurance plans.
Can you help me file my insurance?
We will file all the claims for your sessions with our providers. We will do our best to help you understand your responsibilities within your plan and answer any questions you may have regarding the insurance process.
What is a free initial phone consultation?
A phone consultation allows you to share some aspects of what brings you to therapy. It also allows our providers to hear where your pain lies and provide feedback about what you need and how we can help.
What are the risks and benefits of therapy?

The benefits of therapy may include increased self-awareness, less reactivity, a greater capacity to feel your feelings without being overwhelmed by them, more skillfulness in dealing with stress and anxiety, stronger connections with people in your life, and, hopefully, the freedom to play, laugh, and love with more passion.

The risks tend to be feeling more “activated” at times. This could include noticing more sadness and irritability and feeling raw or vulnerable. These moments may come, but they tend to be temporary.

They become opportunities for more reflection and deeper understanding.

Who is your perfect client?
Our perfect client recognizes they are struggling. They see how their issues create pain and suffering in their lives and are motivated to roll up their sleeves and dig into the work that needs to be done. This may mean learning and practicing new skills.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session will involve a deep dive into what brings you into therapy. This will probably be a conversation touching on current challenges and past experiences that may have shaped your struggle today. Most sessions end with your provider summarizing the difficulties you have been facing and beginning to formulate a plan for how you might start to feel better.
How long will I be in therapy?
To be honest and transparent, this is not an easy question to answer. It somewhat depends on what you need and want to do in therapy. For some people, therapy can take a few months and may involve learning skills to help manage stress and anxiety. For others, treatment may be more “in-depth” and involve exploring early relationships and trauma experiences. Regardless of the length of therapy, you should feel some relief immediately from what’s discussed in sessions and collaborating with your therapist.
How is Inner Path different from other practices?

As a collective, we have over 40 years of experience in the field. Our providers do not have a one-size-fits-all philosophy. We do not believe manuals have the answers to the complexities of the human experience.

As seasoned therapists, we bring the ability to teach skills and help you learn practical tools for reducing anxiety, stress, anger, and depression.

We also deeply believe in the value and importance of self-understanding and cultivating a greater awareness of how your inner world operates. This knowledge and awareness often lead to better connections and greater life satisfaction.

Is your furniture comfortable?

We have taken time and significant consideration in choosing our furniture. We hope it is comfortable enough to make you feel relaxed but not so comfortable that you fall asleep in session!
